About IISER Pune

Indian Institute of Science  Education and  Research (IISER) Pune, is one of India’s top institutions for education and research in the basic sciences. It was established in 2006 by the Government of India under the Ministry of Education and was later declared an Institute of National Importance in 2012. The Institute was created with the vision of integrating high-quality teaching with cutting-edge scientific research. The campus is located in the Pashan area of Pune near several major research institutes like National Chemical Laboratory, Pune University, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, creating a vibrant scientific environment. About the Conference

The International Conference on Horizons in Hydrogen Bond Research is a biennial scientific meeting with a long and distinguished tradition. The conference series, initiated in 1977 by Prof. Lucjan Sobczyk in Poland, has since evolved into one of the most prestigious international forums for advancing research on hydrogen bonding. The 2027 edition will mark the 27th conference in this highly prestigious series and will also commemorate the Golden Jubilee (50 years) of the HBOND conferences. Traditionally held in various countries across Europe, the conference will be hosted in India for the first time in its history, marking a significant milestone for the HBOND community and for the hydrogen-bond research community in India.

Hydrogen bonding, first recognized more than a century ago, continues to be a vibrant and active area of research across a wide range of disciplines, including chemistry, biology, astrophysics, astrochemistry, and materials science. The conference brings together scientists from diverse backgrounds (Microwave, IR, UV-Vis, and NMR Spectroscopy; X-ray Crystallography; Laser spectroscopy; Materials Science, Computational/Theoretical chemistry) to discuss recent advances in the research on hydrogen bonding and other weak intermolecular interactions through a broad spectrum of experimental and theoretical approaches, encompassing all states of matter. Approximately 150 participants, including at least 50 international delegates, are expected to attend this exciting conference.

The conference will feature Keynote, Invited, and Contributed Talks, as well as Poster Sessions. A substantial number of Contributed Talks will be presented by both junior and senior faculty members. As the number of Keynote and Invited Talks is limited, faculty members are strongly encouraged to apply for Contributed Talks in response to the Call for Abstracts. Additionally, an Early-Career Researchers’ Workshop will be held on the first day of the conference, September 20, 2027. This workshop will provide a unique opportunity for early-career researchers to present their work through contributed talks, exchange ideas, and engage in scientific discussions with peers in the HBOND community. Following the Call for Abstracts, students may apply for either a Contributed Talk or a Poster Presentation. All submissions for Contributed Talks, from both students and faculty members, will be reviewed by the Conference Committee. Preference for Contributed Talks in the Early-Career Researchers’ Workshop will be given to senior PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.

We warmly invite researchers working in hydrogen bonding and related areas of chemical interactions to participate in HBond2027 at IISER Pune. The conference will provide a stimulating platform for leading experts and emerging researchers to exchange ideas, present recent advances, explore new perspectives, and foster collaborations. The HBOND2027 conference will begin in the morning of September 20, 2027, and conclude in the afternoon of September 24, 2027.
